Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 August 2026
POINT is made by Lumaris Swim. This policy explains, in plain English, what the app does with information about you. It is short because the app does very little with it.
The short version
POINT has no account, no sign-in, and no Lumaris server. We do not have a copy of your walks. We could not look them up if you asked us to.
Your walks, your swims, your rides, your Atlas and your settings are written to storage on your own phone and stay there. Nothing you record is uploaded to us, and none of it is sold — not now, and not as a business model held in reserve.
There is one thing that does leave your phone while you walk, and it matters enough to have its own section.
What leaves your phone, and where it goes
To tell you what you are walking past, POINT has to ask somebody what is there. That means sending your approximate position to map and reference services run by other organisations. It happens while you walk, and it is the only routine way anything about you leaves the device.
Those services are:
-
OpenStreetMap Nominatim (
nominatim.openstreetmap.org) — to work out the name of the area you are in. -
OpenStreetMap Overpass (
overpass-api.de) — to find parks, landmarks, buildings and other places near your route. -
Valhalla routing (
valhalla1.openstreetmap.de) — to work out walking routes. -
Open-Meteo (
api.open-meteo.com) — to check the weather where you are. -
Wikipedia (
en.wikipedia.org) — to look up what a place is and what happened there.
These requests carry a location and nothing else. They do not carry your name, your email address, a device identifier, or an account — because POINT does not have any of those to send. Each service handles what it receives under its own privacy policy, and none of them sends anything back to us.
Three further connections happen only if you tap something:
- Tapping the sock waitlist opens a Klaviyo sign-up page in your browser. If you choose to enter your email address there, we receive that email address, and only that. You can unsubscribe from any message we send.
- Tapping through to Lumaris Swim opens
lumarisswim.comin your browser. - Tapping a piece of music opens a search in Apple Music.
In each case you are leaving the app for a website, and that website's own policy applies once you arrive.
Location
POINT asks for location permission because it cannot do its job without it. Your real distance is what carries you along a virtual route, so if the app cannot see where you are, it has nothing to count.
It also asks to keep counting while the phone is in your pocket and the screen is off. This is deliberate and it is the whole design: waypoints are read aloud so you can walk without looking at a screen. If the app could not track in the background, the narration would stop the moment you put the phone away.
Your location is used to move your walk along, to find places near you, and to draw your map. It is not logged to any server of ours, because we do not run one.
What we do not do
- No accounts, no sign-in, no password.
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No analytics, no crash reporting, no usage tracking. There is no third-party analytics or advertising code in this app at all.
- No selling, renting or sharing of personal information.
- No profiling, and no scoring you against anybody else.
Deleting your information
Everything POINT holds about you is on your phone. Deleting the app deletes all of it — your walks, your swims, your Atlas and your settings. There is no server copy, so there is nothing to ask us to erase and no request to make.
If you joined the sock waitlist, that email address sits with our mailing provider until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it. Write to the address below and we will remove it.
Children
POINT is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted in the app.
