POINT Support

POINT — SUPPORT
Lumaris Swim

POINT turns the walk you already take into a walk somewhere else. You point a
direction, you walk or ride your real distance, and that distance carries you
along a route in another city — past real places, with something true to say
about each one. Your time in the water carries you across crossings people
actually made.

If something isn't working, write to us. A person reads it.

THINGS PEOPLE ASK

The voice isn't speaking.

Narration is off until you switch it on — nothing in POINT surprises you with
sound. On the screen before a walk begins there is a line about speaking aloud;
tap it. If it is already on and you still hear nothing, check the voice named
just below it, and check your phone isn't on silent.

The voice sounds robotic.

iPhone ships with small built-in voices that sound synthetic. The natural ones
are a free download that almost nobody finds. Open Settings and type "Voices"
into the search box at the top — Apple moves this menu between iOS versions, so
searching beats following a path. Choose English, then download any voice marked
Enhanced or Premium, and pick it in POINT. It makes more difference than
anything else.

My distance isn't moving.

POINT needs Precise Location. Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services
→ POINT, and make sure Precise Location is on. The walk screen tells you whether
the phone has a fix; if it says GPS starting, give it a minute outdoors.

It stopped counting when I put my phone in my pocket.

Allow location "Always" rather than "While Using". That is what lets POINT keep
counting and keep talking with the screen off, which is the whole point of it.

Siri won't start a walk.

Say "Hey Siri, start a walk in POINT". The words "in POINT" matter — a bare
"start a walk" is a phrase iPhone keeps for its own workout app, so Siri needs
to hear which app you mean.

If Siri answers that POINT has not added support for that, check that the
Shortcuts app is still on your phone. It comes with iPhone but it can be
deleted, and it is the part of iOS that tells Siri what an app can do — without
it, Siri cannot see POINT's shortcuts at all. Search the App Store for
Shortcuts, by Apple; it is a free reinstall. Open POINT once afterwards, and
try again.

Siri opens POINT at the dial, ready to begin. It does not start tracking on its
own — you still tap to start, so a misheard word can never quietly record a
walk you did not take.

Why doesn't my swim count towards my walking?

Because they are different things and adding them together would flatter both.
Water moves you across a crossing. Walking moves you along a route. POINT keeps
them apart deliberately.

Where is my data?

On your phone. There is no account and no server. If you delete the app it goes
with it. See our Privacy Policy.

What is the sock?

Lumaris is building a connected sock that reads what your legs do underwater,
where no watch can follow. It does not exist yet and we have not set a date —
when we have a sample and a funded campaign, we will say so and not before.
There is a link in the app if you want to be told.
